How's the holiday season going for you? Stressed yet?
I've been trying to be extra intentional this year about toning things down and I hope this post will encourage you to do the same.
Here's a quick DIY foot soak to help you slow down and take a break.
1. Next time you go into town, pick up some Epsom salts and baking soda. If you already have some, continue to step 2.
2. Find yourself a bowl. One that you don't mind putting your feet in, so maybe not Mom's favorite porcelain bowl she got from her great-grandmother's cousin. Don't underestimate the size of your feet. Trust me, your toes will thank you.
3. Get 2 towels. One for the floor under your bowl and one to dry your feet off after your soak is complete.
4. Put on the kettle or get the hottest water you can out of the tap and pour into your carefully chose bowl.
5. Add 1/4 cup of Epsom Salts and 1/4 cup baking soda.
5. Add lavender essential oil, just 1-3 drops, if you have it (not necessary for a relaxing foot soak). If you're an herbal freak like me and happen to have herbs around the house, try some hops, sage leaves, and lavender flowers. Just a handful of each will do.
6. Get a cool cloth for your forehead. Add a drop of lavender essential oil to the cloth if you wish.
7. Turn on Nat King Cole or other soothing Christmas music (leave the Trans Siberian Orchestra for later). If the noise is too much, skip the music and get some ear plugs.
8. Make yourself comfortable in a chair, with your feet in the foot soak and the cool cloth on your head.
9. Now stay there for as long as you need.
10. (optional) Breathe deep and slowly repeat this brief meditation. Take several deep breaths with each phrase.
Be still and know that I AM GOD
Be still and know that I AM
Be still and know
Be still
Be
Blessings to each one of you this Christmas season,
Annie
